The farm

Dove siamo

The Marzocco Farm is located in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini on the hill of Poppiano (300 m), a beautiful medieval town with its historic castle. Located opposite, our farm sits side on the crest of the hill overlooking San Casciano in Val di Pesa noted for its soil rich local Tuscan rock.

The family business was founded in 1975, when Alberto Chini and his wife Meri Lori bought the Marzocco, Pretale and La Massa farms from the Conti Guicciardini Corsi Salviati family, whose name was changed over the years.

Covering roughly 70 hectares, the area boasts 35 vineyards and 8 olive groves.

In 2014 the company started a new bottling project, starting with re-zoning the land and a census of the company’s clones. Among the other vines present, the following were also identified: four clones of Sangiovese, a Canaiolo of the 1950’s, an interesting Tuscan Trebbiano and the Malvasia lunga del Chianti.
These are joined by internationals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Soon, new plants will become part of the production, such as the Vermentino and Viognier, to combine with the rest of our range, as well as a white wine.
As of 2015, the parcels and vines have gone through a separate vinification process.

The olive groves, together with their 2,000 plants are registered in the olive registry of the Tuscan I. G. P. and are located in four different plots. Among the other cultivars are: Moraiolo, Frantoio, Pendolino, Leccino, Leccino del Corno and Coreggiolo. Depending on their quality, each year olive groves and the best cultivars are selected to produce monovarietal olive oil.

Our first selection of the bunch and the control of the ripening curve of the specific parcel produced these types of wine.

Among the vines present we have identified this selection of wines, which will not disappoint you; for our E.V.O. oil, we have selected the best cultivar to produce monovarietal oil.
